OUR DEMANDS

IRLA called on the LA County Board of Supervisors and the Chief Executive Office to increase infrastructure and provide services to immigrants in the Phase II allocation of $975 Million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP). For an equitable recovery, supervisors must fully include immigrants in the plan.

IRLA asked supervisors to invest in LA County’s immigrants in the following ways:

  • Fund community service navigators To help immigrants access housing, food, cash, employment, education, youth programming, health services, and immigration legal support in LA County.

  • Triple the initial investment made in the first round of ARP funding in capacity-building for nonprofit organizations serving immigrants.  

  • Invest $50 million in grants to help community-based organizations facing barriers obtain/expand building infrastructure.

  • Increase funding to bridge the digital divide immigrants face when trying to access County resources.

  • Continue investment in ethnic media to reach more immigrants in LA County.
