These resources will teach you about your rights as an immigrant when encountering immigration authorities and how to assert those rights.
Trainings
- National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) - Accessible, easy to download Know Your Rights resources with detailed, Spanish-language guidance when encountering immigration authorities in the street, at home, or at work.
- American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) – Know Your Rights resources are available in multiple languages (click to access each guide):
- Know Your Rights Red Cards (18 Languages) – Printable cards with legal guidance in multiple languages.
- We Have Rights – A video series explaining immigrant rights during interactions with ICE and law enforcement.
- Comunidades Indigenas en Liderazgo (CIELO) – You can find KYR videos in indigenous languages.
- Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) – Free KYR workshops for immigrants, service providers, and workplaces. Email Panida Rzonca to request a training.
Family Safety Preparedness
Plan ahead to protect your family in case of an emergency, such as detention or deportation of a loved one.
- Family Safety Planning Toolkit – Created by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) , it includes an affidavit that complies with California law, allowing a trusted adult to make school and medical decisions for children.
